01
Pricing
It depends on your vehicle and whether it has features like a rain sensor or a windshield camera. State Auto Glass is known locally for fair pricing that often beats the big-name shops — call or text (503) 363-0844 or request a free quote for an exact price on your car.
Chip repair is a small fraction of the cost of a full replacement, and catching it early keeps your factory glass and seal. Tell us about the damage and we'll give you an upfront quote.
As a focused mobile operation doing this since 1961, with long-standing supplier relationships and low overhead, we keep prices down and pass the savings on. Customers regularly tell us we came in well under the chains' quotes.
Yes. Tell us your year, make, model, and the damage and we'll give you a free, upfront quote with no obligation. Call or text (503) 363-0844 or use our quote form.

Timing & Process
Most windshield replacements take about an hour, plus a short safe-drive-away wait while the adhesive cures. We'll tell you the exact time for your vehicle when you book.
Most chip and rock-chip repairs take about 30 minutes, and you can usually drive away right after.
Often, yes — especially for common vehicles and in-stock glass. State Auto Glass is known for fast turnaround. Call early and we'll do our best to get you in the same day.
Calling ahead helps us confirm we have your glass and reserve your time, but reach out anytime at (503) 363-0844 — we'll fit you in as quickly as we can.
Not right away. The urethane adhesive needs time to cure — typically about an hour for safe drive-away, though we'll give you the exact time. After a chip repair you can usually drive immediately.
Yes — many customers wait for chip repairs and quick jobs. For replacements you're welcome to wait or drop the vehicle off; just plan for the cure time before driving.
Just your vehicle. Knowing your exact year, make, model, and trim helps us confirm the right glass before we arrive.

Safety & Aftercare
A small chip may be fine briefly, but cracks can spread and the windshield is a structural safety part that supports the roof and airbags. Get it repaired or replaced promptly — and don't wait if the crack is in your line of sight.
Leave any retention tape on for a day or two, avoid slamming doors and high-pressure car washes for about 24 hours, and crack a window slightly on hot days to ease pressure while the adhesive fully sets.
Light rain is generally fine once the adhesive has reached safe-drive-away strength. We use weather-appropriate urethane and will tell you if any extra wait is needed.
Wait about 24 hours and avoid high-pressure or automatic car washes during that time so the seal isn't disturbed. Hand rinsing is gentler if you need to clean it sooner.
Glass expands and contracts with temperature changes, and road vibration flexes it. Both put stress on a chip or crack, which is why damage that looks minor can suddenly run across the glass.
Yes. The windshield helps support the roof in a rollover and provides a backstop for the passenger airbag. That's why a correct, fully-bonded install matters so much.
04
Glass & Quality
We use quality glass matched to your vehicle and can discuss OEM versus high-quality aftermarket options for your car. The goal is a correct fit, clear optics, and a safe, lasting install.
As a rule of thumb, chips smaller than a quarter and cracks shorter than about six inches — and not directly in the driver's sightline — are often repairable. Larger or spreading damage usually needs replacement. We'll assess it honestly.
If the damage qualifies, repair is faster, cheaper, and keeps your factory glass and seal. If it's large, deep, or in your line of sight, replacement is the safe choice. We recommend whichever is genuinely right for your situation.
A repair restores strength and greatly improves appearance, but a faint mark may remain depending on the original damage. It's about safety and stopping the spread first, with a much-improved look as a bonus.
Yes — all of our work is backed by a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If something isn't right, we'll make it right.
It shouldn't — but if you ever notice a leak or wind noise after our work, bring it back. Our satisfaction guarantee covers making it right.
Yes, we match factory features like the shade band at the top of the windshield and sensor brackets so your replacement looks and functions like the original.
05
ADAS & Electronics
ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) calibration realigns the camera and sensors — often mounted on the windshield — that run features like lane-keeping, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. After a windshield change, these usually need recalibration so they aim correctly.
If your vehicle has a windshield-mounted forward camera (common on newer cars with lane-keeping or automatic braking), it typically needs calibration after replacement. When you book, we'll tell you whether yours requires it.
Calibration usually adds about 60–90 minutes on top of the windshield replacement, depending on whether your vehicle needs a static, dynamic, or combined procedure.
They will once the camera is properly recalibrated. Skipping calibration when it's required can cause driver-assist features to read the road inaccurately, so we make sure it's handled.
Yes. We transfer or reconnect rain sensors and humidity/light sensors so automatic wipers and headlights keep working after the replacement.
Yes — we source glass with the correct heating elements and connections so your defrost and wiper-de-ice features work as designed.
Usually yes. A window that won't move, drops into the door, or grinds is typically a regulator or motor issue. We diagnose and replace the failed part so your window works again.
