Why there's no single flat price
A windshield isn't a generic pane of glass. The right one is engineered for your exact make, model, and year — and often for the specific options on your vehicle. Two cars that look identical in the parking lot can take different glass depending on whether they were built with features like a rain sensor or a heated wiper area. That's the main reason an honest shop quotes per vehicle instead of posting one price for everyone.
The factors that drive the cost
Your vehicle's make, model, and year
Common vehicles tend to have widely available, lower-cost glass. Luxury models, newer vehicles, and less common trims can cost more simply because the glass is more specialized and harder to source. Older vehicles are often the most affordable to do.
Glass features built into the windshield
Modern windshields can carry a lot of technology in and on the glass. Each feature adds to the cost of the part itself:
- Rain or light sensors that automate wipers and headlights
- A heated wiper-park area or full heated glass to clear ice and fog
- Acoustic (sound-dampening) interlayers for a quieter cabin
- A heads-up display (HUD) projection area
- A camera or sensor bracket bonded to the glass
- Built-in antennas, tint bands, or a humidity sensor
ADAS and calibration
Many vehicles built in recent years use Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) — things like lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. These often rely on a camera mounted to the windshield. When the glass is replaced, that camera frequently has to be recalibrated so the system aims correctly. Calibration is a real, necessary step on equipped vehicles, and it can add to the total. Not every car needs it, so the honest answer is vehicle-specific.
Not sure if your vehicle needs calibration? Just ask us. We'll check your year, make, and model and tell you straight whether ADAS calibration applies before you commit to anything.
OEM vs. aftermarket glass
OEM (original equipment manufacturer) glass is made to the automaker's exact spec and usually carries their branding. Quality aftermarket glass is built to meet the same federal safety standards and is often a more economical choice. Both can be excellent options — the right pick depends on your vehicle, your features, and your preferences. We're happy to explain what's available for your car so you can decide with full information.
In Oregon, windshield damage is typically handled under the comprehensive portion of your auto policy, not collision. If you carry comprehensive coverage, a replacement is often covered after your deductible — and depending on your policy and deductible amount, your out-of-pocket cost can be reduced significantly or, in some cases, covered in full.
Small chip and crack repairs are a different story. Many comprehensive policies cover chip repair with little or no deductible, because a quick repair is far cheaper than a full replacement and helps prevent the damage from spreading. It's always worth catching damage early — and worth a quick call to your insurer to confirm your specific coverage and deductible.
Check your declarations page or call your insurer to learn your comprehensive deductible before you book. Knowing that number is the fastest way to understand your real out-of-pocket cost.
How to get an honest, upfront quote
Because the price hinges on your exact vehicle and its features, the only accurate quote is one built for your car. When you reach out, have your year, make, model, and trim handy — and your VIN if you have it, since it tells us exactly which features your windshield carries. With that, we can give you a clear, upfront number with no surprises.

A trustworthy quote should be specific to your vehicle and explained in plain English — including whether your car needs calibration. If a price seems too good to be true, ask what glass and what steps it actually includes.
